Ven. Murutthettuwe Ananda Thero has been appointed as the new Chancellor of the University of Colombo.
Accordingly, it is reported that he is scheduled to assume duties in the post from November 17.
A few weeks ago, the Thera had summoned the Teachers’ Principals’ Trade Union Activists to the Abhayaramaya to discuss the protest against the teachers’ pay anomalies to demand an end to the protest.
The President had told Ven. Murutthettuwe Ananda Thera that he would be given a new appointment soon and that it might be the Chancellor of a university.
Confirming this, as the President had said, he was awarded this post.
