The Taliban says Panshir has been captured.
The Taliban says opposition forces, the last stronghold in Panjshir, have won, ending the occupation of Afghanistan three weeks after the capture of Kabul.
“With this victory, our country is completely taken out of the quagmire of war,” chief spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said on Monday.
The National Anti-Taliban Front (NRF) also promised to continue the fight in the Pansir Valley, saying it was “in strategic places” and that the “struggle against the Taliban would continue.”
The whereabouts of former Vice President Ahmed Masood and Amrullah Saleh, who joined the protests after the fall of Kabul, have not yet been revealed.
Meanwhile, Al Jazeera reports that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has arrived in Qatar to discuss the unrest following the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.
