The first ship carrying urea fertilizer required for the 2022/2023 high season under the loan facility of the World Bank arrived at the port of Colombo last night on the 26th.
The unloading of the fertilizer stock from the ship started today (28).
The amount of fertilizer imported from China is 12,500 metric tons and the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera, has arrived at Colombo Port this afternoon (28) to inspect the unloading and distribution activities.
There, the minister mentioned that this time too, it is planned to provide a bundle of fertilizer for 10,000 rupees and firstly, they will provide fertilizer to the areas of Batticaloa, Ampara, Trincomalee and according to the order of cultivation.
