TIGHTENS PROVINCIAL TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS TO 21

It has been decided to strictly enforce the provincial travel restrictions that are currently in effect in the country until the 21st.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has stated at a special committee meeting held today (15) that due to the long weekend which falls on the 19th and 20th of this month, traffic should be strictly checked at all provincial borders.

During the discussion held through video technology, the Director General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardena stated that the distribution of Pfizer vaccine to school children in the age group of 18-19 years in the Colombo District has been started from today (15) and in other districts from the 21st of this month. Steps will be taken to vaccinate children in this age group through schools and regional health offices.

It has been stated that a third dose of immunosuppressants will be given to school children as soon as the vaccination is completed.
