The recent blocking of the departure of a Russian plane from the country has now extended to the breakdown of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Russia has also summoned the Sri Lankan ambassador to Russia to express its displeasure.
Various media outlets have reported that no order has been issued prohibiting the aircraft from leaving the country. Various people also say that it was a conspiracy to create a problem between banning the flight and obtaining fuel from Russia.
The fuel is sourced from Russia through a company called Coral Energy in Dubai. Recently, the Minister of Line announced that the ship which had taken fuel from Russia had arrived. But the ship was imported by a private company.
